Q
What are the latest trends in detergents and cleaning products?
A.
Recently, we have seen a gradual effort by the chemicals industry in developing products that are more environmentally friendly, furthering the use of "Green Cleaning Products" and setting procedures for implementing green cleaning systems.
On the other hand, these products save money. The green cleaning products helps lower turnover absenteeism ( green products being less toxic ), reduces training costs because fewer products are being used, and lowers purchasing and storage expenses since most of the products are available in bulk.
Q
How to store chemicals?
A.
1-Always make sure the chemicals are stored in the actual packing of the producing company.
2- Store at a cool & dry place.
3- Lids have to be closed securely.
4- Preferably store Alkaline, Chlorine and Acid chemicals at separate places.
5- The storage place should be neat and clean and free of any spillages.
6- Used equipment for dilution of chemicals need to be cleaned at the same time.
7- Stored products should be at least 88 ml. above ground to make space for cleaning.
Q
How to handle cleaning chemicals?
A.
1-Always read the product label before use. Checking the dilution rate is appropriate for the task.
2-When using detergents suitable lightweight industrial or household gloves must be worn.
3-Hands must be clean and dry when wearing rubber gloves.
4-Never mix different products together.
5-Detergents should always be used at the concentrations recommended and wherever possible supplied with a pump dispenser, which will reduce skin exposure.
6-Ammonia, which causes eye and mucous membrane irritation, may also be given off by some cleaning agents and must only be used in well-ventilated areas.
7-Cleaning chemicals must not be decanted from their trade containers into unlabelled bottles. If there is a need to decant any cleaning substance, contact your supervisor so that he can arrange for the supply of correctly labeled containers of the appropriate type.
8-Always add chemical to water, rather water to chemical. This will eliminate the risk of neat chemicals splashed out of the container.
Use trigger sprays carefully to avoid creating an “ aerosol mist “ in the workplace. In confined or badly ventilated areas spray the product onto the cleaning cloth.
Q
What kind of product can we use in cleaning to prevent bacteria from contamination?
A.
You should use either Basix, as a disinfectant cleaner or Ultrex as an all-purpose cleaner on surfaces in order to provide added protection against bacteria
